OUR STORY

Nearly two decades of opening doors through sports.

AN IDEA THAT
BECAME A MISSION.

Deaf Sports Academy (DSA) was founded in 2007 by Jeremias Valencia, a Deaf athlete, educator, coach, and athletic administrator who believed that young athletes deserved access to quality sports programs without communication barriers.

After earning his bachelor's degree in Physical Education at Gallaudet University, he saw a need for more organized sports, coaching, and athletic development opportunities for Deaf and hard-of-hearing youth.

With encouragement from Seymour Bernstein, Mark Corson, Bennie Maucere, and his father Manny Valencia, DSA became a reality.
